About the Etsy Fee Calculator

Etsy Fee Calculator adds up every fee Etsy takes from one sale: the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee on the item and shipping, payment processing (3% + $0.25 in the US), and the Offsite Ads fee when a sale comes from one of Etsy's ads. Then it takes off what the item and postage cost you, so you see real profit.

Shipping counts: Etsy charges its 6.5% on what the buyer pays for shipping too, which is why free-shipping pricing and charged-shipping pricing come out almost the same.

How to use it

  1. Enter the item price and the shipping the buyer pays.
  2. Add sales tax if you want processing on tax counted exactly.
  3. Say whether the sale came from Offsite Ads.
  4. Enter what the item and shipping cost you to see profit and margin.

Example

A $35 item with $5 shipping: listing $0.20 + transaction $2.60 + processing $1.45 = $4.25 in fees, so you keep $35.75. With a $10 item cost and $5 postage, profit is $20.75 (51.9% margin). If the sale came from Offsite Ads at 15%, fees rise to $10.25 and profit drops to $14.75.

Questions

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing both apply to the shipping the buyer pays, not just the item price.

What are Offsite Ads?

Etsy advertises listings on Google, Instagram and other sites. If a buyer clicks one and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order (12% for shops over $10,000 a year), capped at $100.

Are these fees for my country?

The calculator uses US rates with Etsy Payments. Processing fees and regulatory fees differ in other countries, so check Etsy's fee page for yours.

How current are the fees?

They are checked against Etsy's published fees each quarter. The date is shown under the calculator.
