Privacy Policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
Utilwell is built to need as little of your information as possible. Most tools run entirely in your browser, so the files and text you use them on never reach us. This policy explains the small amount we do handle.
Utilwell is operated by Utilwell Co., a Canadian business. Questions or requests: hello@utilwell.com.
Your files and text
PDFs, images, spreadsheets, invoices and anything you type into a tool are processed on your own device, in your browser. They are not uploaded to Utilwell, and we cannot see them. If that ever changes for a particular tool (for example a future server-based Pro feature), that tool will say so clearly before you use it.
What we collect
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, if you create an account | To sign you in and link your plan | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| Sign-in links (stored only as a one-way hash) and the IP address that asked for them | To send sign-in emails and stop abuse | 24 hours |
| A session record (stored only as a one-way hash) | To keep you signed in | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| Your plan, its end date and your Stripe customer ID | To unlock Pro | While you have an account |
| Searches that matched no tool: the text only, with a count | To decide which tools to build next | Not linked to you; kept until no longer useful |
| Basic traffic statistics (pages viewed, country, browser), without cookies | To see which tools people use | Aggregated only |
We do not sell personal information, show ads or use advertising trackers.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach Utilwell. Stripe processes payment information under its own privacy policy.
Cookies
We use two cookies, and only when you sign in: uw_session keeps you signed in, and uw_in tells pages you're signed in so they can show your account. Both are needed for the site to work, so there is no cookie banner. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Who helps us run Utilwell
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores account data, sends sign-in emails and provides cookieless traffic statistics.
- Stripe processes payments.
These providers may process data outside Canada, including in the United States, under their own security and privacy commitments.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or close your account, by emailing hello@utilwell.com. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Utilwell is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we'll tell account holders by email first.
