About the Shopify CSV Checker
Shopify CSV Checker reads a product CSV and lists everything that would make Shopify reject rows or import them wrongly, with the row number of each problem. It works with Shopify's current template and with older exports.
Errors stop an import or break products. Warnings are things Shopify accepts but probably not what you meant, like a compare-at price below the price.
How to use it
- Choose your product CSV.
- Fix each error at the row shown, in your spreadsheet.
- Check the warnings.
- Run it again until it says "Ready to import".
Example
A file with "$12" in a price, a size variant missing its Option1 value, and a product's rows split across the sheet shows three errors: row 2, the price must be a plain number; row 3, the extra variant has no Option1 value; row 5, the product's rows are split up.
Questions
What does it check?
Handles, keeping each product's rows together, variant options and duplicates, number formats for price, cost, quantity and weight, TRUE/FALSE fields, status, image URLs, misspelled column names and garbled text encoding.
Does it change my file?
No. It only reads it and tells you what to fix.
Why are some rows not counted as variants?
Rows with only a handle and an image are extra product images. Shopify treats them that way too.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The check runs in your browser.
