Generated in your browser with its secure random source. Never stored or sent. Look-alike characters (l, I, O, 0, 1) are left out.

About the Password Generator

Password Generator makes strong random passwords using your browser's secure random number generator. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Look-alike characters such as l, I, O, 0 and 1 are left out, so passwords are easy to read and type.

How to use it

  1. Choose a length (16 or more is a good default).
  2. Choose whether to include numbers and symbols.
  3. Copy the password, or generate a new one.

Example

A 20-character password with letters, numbers and symbols has about 122 bits of strength. That would take far longer than a lifetime to guess.

Questions

Is it safe to make passwords on a website?

This one never leaves your device. It is made in your browser with the same secure random source password managers use.

How long should a password be?

At least 16 characters for important accounts. Longer is stronger.

Should I reuse it?

No. Use a different password for every account and keep them in a password manager.
