Image Compressor

Make images smaller for websites, email and uploads. One image or a batch.

How this was calculated

Your images never leave your device. They are compressed in your browser.

About the Image Compressor

Image Compressor makes photos smaller for websites, email and upload forms, usually without a visible difference. Save as the same format, or switch to WebP, which is often a third the size of a JPG at similar quality.

You can also set a maximum width, which shrinks oversized photos straight from a phone or camera.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or many images.
  2. Pick a format and quality (60–80% is hard to tell from the original).
  3. Optionally set a maximum width.
  4. Download the smaller files.

Example

A 2.6 MB, 3000 × 2000 px photo saved as WebP at 70% quality came out at 923 KB, a 65% saving.

Questions

Why didn't my PNG get smaller?

PNG is lossless, so re-saving it barely helps. Choose WebP or JPG for photos and it will shrink a lot.

Will it ever make an image bigger?

No. If the compressed version would be larger, you get the original file back.

Does it keep transparency?

WebP and PNG keep transparency. JPG doesn't support it, so transparent areas become white.
