About the Character Counter

Character Counter counts characters as you type and shows how much room is left on each platform: X, Threads, Bluesky, Instagram captions, LinkedIn posts, YouTube titles, SEO titles, meta descriptions and SMS.

Characters are counted as you see them, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your post.
  2. Watch the remaining count for each platform.
  3. Trim until everything you need fits.

Example

"Fresh drop 👍🏽 today" is 18 characters: 262 left on X and 482 left on Threads.

Questions

Why does X sometimes count differently?

X counts every link as 23 characters and some emoji as 2, so leave a little room.

Why does SMS drop to 70?

Messages with emoji or certain accents use a different encoding that fits 70 characters per message instead of 160.

Are the SEO lengths hard limits?

No. Around 60 characters for titles and 155 for descriptions are guidelines for what search results usually show.
